For a seafood treat, why not buy some fresh mussels and combine them with this easy-to-make white wine sauce? The result is a mouth-watering treat that will have you coming back to the pot for more. The recipe was prepared by the Tollhouse Restaurant in Gunthorpe, Notts in our BBC Nottingham Online kitchen. For dessert, we have a recipe for another lovely dish, a rich chocolate fondue.
Mussels in White Wine Sauce Method 1. Mussels should be washed in plenty of cold water. Having washed the mussels scrape off any barracks and pull out the beards. 2. Put a glass of white wine and half a small chopped onion in a pan with a lid on it. 3. Chop one clove of garlic and add to the mussels, cook for about 5 minutes and pour in some white sauce and cream and cook until all the shells are open. 4. Throw away any mussels that do not open.
