There's been further evidence of the rise in popularity of Bollywood films among the Nottinghamshire public. It follows the recent visit to the city by one of the genre's leading directors. More than 300 Bollywood fans met the industry’s latest ‘hotshot’ director Karan Johar when he came to the Warner Village Cinema at The Cornerhouse in Nottingham. Johar is the man behind Kabhi Khushi Khabhi Gham (otherwise known as K3G) which is the latest blockbuster to come out of India. He spent over an hour meeting and greeting fans and signing autographs before they saw the movie. "I'm delighted with the response of the people here in Nottingham," said Johar. K3G is just the latest film to draw the crowds since the Warner Village chain took the decision to show regular Bollywood movies. It’s almost unheard of for a Bollywood director to come to Nottingham plus the fans were able to get exclusive merchandise, such as the book of the film, signed,” said Andy Joseph, General Manager at Warner Village Cinemas. Given the success of this first venture Nottingham could soon be challenging Leicester when it comes to enticing the Bollywood stars to the East Midlands. |
