Could pensioner power be about to take over Hollywood? Clint Eastwood has been there before, when he starred with Burt Reynolds in City Heat back in 1984. Now he's older (70) and prepared to take the directors reigns for a film which brings together a quartet of movie superstars. | | Ride 'em space cowboy |
Eastwood, Lee Jones, Garner and Sutherland play test pilots who failed to get into space back in the late fifties. They were replaced by chimps. Forty years on, they finally have the chance to fulfil their astronaut dreams when they are called upon to fix a satellite which has gone badly wrong. It's a film for lovers of the more mature actors and it falls into two parts. | | So this is what a few days in space does for you. |
First you see Eastwood and co. huffing and puffing their way to a semblance of fitness in readiness for blast off. Then comes the action in outer space. With four 'A' list actors competing for screen time it must have been a lot of fun making this film. A shame the end product doesn't quite get out of earth's orbit. With so many stars performing you'd have hoped Space Cowboys could have reached a little higher.
