A Nottinghamshire public house has been voted the second best in the country - in the national Pub of the Year competition.
The Marquis of Granby, Granby, Nottinghamshire has risen rapidly from near extinction to become the regional winner of CAMRA's national competition.
According to the Good Beer Guide 2004 this pub is believed to be the original Marquis of Granby, dating back to 1760 or earlier.
It is a small, two-roomed pub that has served over 300 different ales in the last year.
Two hundred branch winners were whittled down to 16 regional winners before being trimmed further to leave a final four.
Then durning National Pubs Week - 21st to 28th February 2004 - the Marquis of Granby was declared the second best in the country.
