I live in Heslington, York, and studied Multimedia Technology at Leeds Metropolitan University, where I first discovered digital cameras and digital software. I bought my own camera in 2003 and take it with me when I’m out walking with the dog, (present one called Raskolnikov).

The Pocklington Canal is my favourite place; a beautiful area for watching all manner of wildlife and, since I’m out there most days, I see it in all seasons.

This is my first portfolio, in which I have tried to capture the essence of each season. There are twelve pictures planned to complete a series of three for each season, with eight already done.

Each picture is usually a composite of two digital photographs, with other effects created on the computer, although the effects are merely to enhance the original photographic features.

I tend to focus on small details and blend them to create a new picture. All these pictures were created between 2003 to the present.

My next series, I think, will be based on either church architecture or canal technology (lock gates, gears etc) and rust!

Inspiration comes from just having the time to stop and look at something – even a black slug crossing the towpath. Once a digital picture is on the computer screen there is no limit to what can be done with it. Digital technology is quite astonishing.
