Norma produces colourful, mixed media images on canvas. She has an impressionistic style and her work is mainly abstract or semi-abstract in content but always dramatic. To date her subject matter has included the representation of the nude female body through the strategies of fragmentation and manipulation of the body image, and imaginary portraits, which are sometimes threatening and sometimes benevolent. Currently she is working on landscapes sparked by her travels. A recent trip to the U.S.A resulted in evocative paintings of the shapes and colours of Utah and New Mexico. Mosque shapes and spice colours followed from a trip to Morocco, whilst the painting "Mumbai" put onto canvas the vibrant colours of the saris and fabrics of India. Norma has exhibited widely from Aberdeen to London and was prizewinner in the Priestley Centre for the Arts in 1999. This hard working artist is also an enthusiastic founding member of the FEVA group of artists and she has just completed her fourth solo show for the Festival.
Her work is in several private and corporate collections in the UK and the USA.
