About the artist Diane studied Art and Ceramics at York and Harrogate. She now paints full time in her studio near York or out on location. Inspiration comes from her adopted North Yorkshire. Runswick Bay is her very special place. Living near York she doesn't have far to go to get inspired. Having the Dales, the East Coast, the Moors and the Lake District virtually on the doorstep. When its time for a change a still life will be set up or one of her cats may offer to pose if not there is always next door's.
Diane enjoys experimenting with techniques, mixed media and the use of texture in her work. Working in most media, her particular favourite is soft pastels as you have immediate colour and boy what colours! Diane also uses acrylics, water-colour, gouache and oils. She loves the different effects you can get when painting the same subject over and over again often from memory.
Diane has just had her second solo show at The Blake Gallery, York. Her work can be seen at Contemporary Galleries throughout Britain and on her website www.artgal.net The BBC is not responsible for the content of external websites |
