Blast Arts 2008

I’ve got my own desk and everything! It only felt really official when I was presented with my personal BBC identification card (secretly partying inside when I got that.) However, since I walked into the Radio York station there has been some kind of super Mario style power hat on my head that has opened it up to invite all kinds of ideas to use for Blast.

It's three weeks into my placement and I have tons of stuff lined up to hack away at. I’ve already made a reputation for myself at Scarborough train station as the crazy person who is frantically dashing across the platforms to make the train on time. It’s been quite an exhausting, yet overwhelming transition from an arts obsessed girl who usually has her head in the clouds, to being a busy bee reporter for the BBC.

Finally getting round all the notches and tweaks of the content editing software, I was able to get productive, publishing a few features for the website. So obviously if you haven't looked at those do it now! I have already been stunting with cheerleaders and virtually scouting for film locations around the Yorkshire Moors.

Back to the Future

Next weekend brings the famous Beached festival in Scarborough, which I was delighted to see was featured in Psychologies magazine as a ‘must to do' this summer. Hopefully I can worm my way into getting some radio content done for that, plus lots more including a spooky insight to Sir Alan Ayckbourn’s latest trilogy. It’s definitely a cool summer.
