WeekdaysYou are in: North Yorkshire > BBC Radio York > Our Shows > Weekdays > Jules Bellerby ![]() Jules BellerbyJules brings you the sport in breakfast in his own irreverent style. We dare to ask the questions to find out more about the man himself. Star sign: Fading. Born 'n' Bred: Wi’ nowt taken out. First memory: Losing my candy floss on Scarborough’s funicular railway when an ample proportioned woman sat on it. She left the carriage looking like a mutant Bambi. First record bought: Ah...first record I bought is Strawberry Fields by the Beatles. First record ever bought FOR me, that would be Rolf Harris’ Sun Arise. Apparently I liked accompanying him on percussion using a couple of my Mum’s wooden spoons. Still I learnt recently it was one of Kate Bush’s favourite songs, so if it’s good enough for her... First job: A School holiday job delivering Rington’s tea around York. It left me with a serious Tunnocks Caramel Wafer habit. Little known facts about yourself: I played drums in the wonderful Bob Sleigh and the Crestas. My stage name was JG Giant. I worked at Rowntrees as a student during holidays. Machine packer 1161, I once worked out I’d pack 56,000 Kit Kat in a typical 8 hour shift. I didn’t get out much. Favourite food and drink: I would think the first bowl of olives with the first bottle of Retsina on the first day of our annual holiday in Crete.
Favourite place in the world: Probably my bed at the moment Favourite place in North Yorkshire: See above Any pet hates: Yes, Honey my Greyhound really doesn’t like cats. She’s not that keen on squirrels either. What would your desert island luxury be: You mean apart from the all female cast of the Impulse ad? Most embarrassing radio moment: Too many to mention. There was that time I almost burnt down a radio station I used to work on, but you don’t want to hear about that. Best radio moment: Being employed. Who would be your dream co-presenter: Sooty or Marcel Marceau. Those who know me say either would compliment my own style well. If you weren’t a broadcaster what would you be: Struggling! A Ryedale farmer whose daughter I was seeing checked out my hands on our first meeting. “Why you’ve never done a day’s work in your life,” he observed. To which I replied “I know… good isn’t it.” It’s become like a mission statement to me. last updated: 09/07/2009 at 09:51 You are in: North Yorkshire > BBC Radio York > Our Shows > Weekdays > Jules Bellerby |
