Review: Married to Albert

By site user Janet Mellor
Annie Waller is from Selby and her debut novel "Married To Albert" has been a runaway success and a sequel is on the way. Janet Mellor thoroughly enjoyed this 'military chick lit' novel and eagerly awaits the next one. This is her review.

From start to finish I was hooked.

Annie Waller has written this book with an abundance of knowledge and feelings. So much so that I had to keep reminding myself that the characters were fictional and not real. The style of writing is easy to read and digest and the story line is so believable with it being taken from the experiences of the writer.

The main character, Kate, came alive immediately and no doubt 99% of all married women will be able to identify with her during her first year of marriage to Guy and her expectations. I also have a lasting picture of Guy in my mind of how I perceive his looks and his personality. I smiled in total recognition of his actions and his words to Kate and cannot wait to read the sequel to see how fatherhood changes him.

The rest of the characters were a wonderous support to Kate and Guy and the world would be a whole heap better if we all had friends such as them to count on in good times and bad.

Although I never laughed out loud at the anecdotes and quips my jaws ached with smiling and my laughter lines around my eyes have increased - not a bad thing though. It was a thoroughly enjoyable book to read and be totally absorbed in.

I will definitely be looking out for the sequel in the bookshops.
