Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough | A Trip to Scarborough

Amidst the scurry and flurry of modern day 21st century holiday makers and conference delegates, with their iPods and their mobile phones, lurk ghosts from earlier times. Tom Fashion, Sheridan's penniless buck rubs invisible shoulders with present day philandering husbands and anxious young wives from the 1940s anxiously awaiting news of missing fighter pilot husbands. All overseen by long suffering hotel staff.

Add in a live band in fancy dress, a murderous major, a hapless heroine, a crusty father with a blunderbuss, an unexpected guest appearance by the fabulous Andrews Sisters, a swindling scam involving the original Sheridan manuscript of A Trip to Scarborough and the result is a fast moving, tense and hilarious spin through the ages.
