Meet Duncan

I'm Duncan and I'll be your Blast reporter for North Yorkshire for 2005. Read on to find out more about me and how you can help…

Name: Duncan Laing
Age: 19
Location: York - AKA the largest village in the UK.

Things I do…
At the moment I've finished my first year at Selby College studying for my HND in Media Production. This basically means I'm half way to being set free in the real dog eat dog world of the media, and to tell you the truth I can't wait.

What is Blast?

If you've come across this page, maybe you're wondering what Blast is?

What I like…
To say film and music are two huge loves of mine would be the understatement of the century. My life revolves around the two and because every musical instrument fails to comply with my enthusiasm I decided to try and make films instead. There I discovered the amazing art of screenwriting which I try to fit in between frequent cinema trips and gigs.

What I don't…
People who categorise others into groups and judge them on first impressions is something that happens far too often. I obviously don't like bad films and bad music because they are… well… bad. But I also don't really enjoy being negative so I'll stop now.

Recent interesting achievement…
Although some people wouldn't call it an achievement (they obviously haven't tried to get tickets) I'd say going to Glastonbury Festival for the first time would stand high on the list. Not only did I manage to not submerge my tent in the muddy gloop but I also tasted an Ostrich burger and witnessed my mate getting his foot peed on. I still wear my wrist band to this day - like a smelly, tatty gold medal. 2007 feels far too long away.

Penguins or sheep?
Although sheep can be quite funny (their likeliness to a cloud) I'd have to choose a penguin. They just taste so much better.

How you can help…
As a Blast reporter I'm here to deliver reports on everything creative like music, film, art, theatre, writing, etc for teenagers. In a nutshell for the next eight weeks I'll be reporting on all things hip 'n' happenin' in North Yorkshire. So if you know something hip that's happenin' let me know when and where and I'll try and be there. I want to hear from you just send me an email to [email protected]
