As a young boy living near Omagh not long after the end of World War II, I remember being taken to an open day at Lisanelly Camp.

I vividly recall seeing a nissan hut which was allocated to the German POWs for religious purposes. The brick walls at each end of the hut had been beautifully painted. I remember one wall with beautiful white horses another using the semi-circular wall of the hut to depict the deep ocean creatures at the bottom of the semi-circle and the highest flying birds at the top.

Does anyone remember this? Is the hut still standing or does anyone remember or perhaps have photographs of what I remember as very beautiful paintings?

Also...

Does anyone remember the trusted German POWs who walked freely around Omagh town?

They wore dark brown boiler-suits with bright yellow circles or diamonds sewn on the backs and legs. All of them seemed well mannered, well spoken, and relaxed. I would be very happy to hear from anyone who remembers these events.
