I'm glad to see sock knitting is not a forgotten art. My friend and I have both been spinning our own wool and knitting socks. My friend has been giving socks out to all her family and has received very possitive feedback from them concerning heat and comfort,we have also been having a go at dying our own wool so we have some super colours.

Manys a time I watched my granny mending the toes or the heels from knitted socks. My granda had five pair of knitted socks .There wasn't a pair that was the same colour all the way through. No such thing as throwing socks away if there was a hole in the toe or heel .I watch my granny take the knitting apart either from the toe or the heel and knit a new piece on , thus the different colours on the heels and toes. Definitely a disappearing craft. We live in a throw away world. Thanks for the memories. Joan Skillen Calgary Alberta Canada.

Hi
I'm not too far away I am in Campbeltown in Kintyre. I was looking for a pattern for socks done on a circular needle and your site popped up. Love the socks, especially the allsorts. I have never been in the position to experience weaving or spinning but it is great that people like you are trying to keep these crafts alive. Good luck with your exhibition. I am ashamed to say that despite the closeness of our geography I have never been in Ireland. Maybe if the Campbeltown/Ballycastle ferry starts up again I'll make it.

Bye for now
Jeanette

I love the title of the exhibit! And how wonderful to show that socks do not have to be boring!

At last socks made with such love are getting the recognition they deserve! It wouldn't be a successful gathering of our family in childhood memory if someone wasn't knitting or modelling their newest creations (gift). Happy Holidays everyone. All the best in 2005 for you and yours!

What a lovely idea, bringing great imagination and inspiration to others that may not have considered knitting as a hobby. I am especially impressed by the Liqurice Allsort socks by Andee McKeown.

I am sorry i missed the exhibition but will be making a note in my diary for next year!
