A birthday tribute to Ireland's patron saint.

Down Cathedral, Downpatrick

Thousands of people the world over like nothing better than to help the Irish celebrate St Patrick's Day in style on 17th March each year. We've uncovered a radio programme which was made in 1986 to mark the Saint's day.

In "St Patrick's Heritage" Brian Walker visits St Patrick's Heritage Centre in Downpatrick, to view the objects and illustrations on display which help tell the story of this Irish saint. Curator of the Centre, Dr Brian Turner, talks about Patrick's connections with Downpatrick and the surrounding area.

You can also visit BBC Northern Ireland's St Patrick's Day site. It includes e-cards, recipes, a game and quiz, as well as a Book of Facts.
