|   The Good Friday Agreement recognises the importance of linguistic diversity. It is committed to promoting respect, understanding and tolerance for the Irish language, Ulster Scots and the languages of the minority ethnic groups. The British Union Jack and the Irish Tricolour reflect the political and cultural traditions of unionists and nationalists. The signatories to the Agreement acknowledge the sensitivities surrounding the use of symbols and emblems, and the need to ensure they are used to promote mutual respect rather than division. | |
