Celtic European Festival of the Sea The Celtic European Festival of the Sea paid a visit to the North Coast between 22nd May and the 4th June 2006. Radio Foyle was there to soak up the maritime atmosphere and the Northwest's weekend sun, and we even managed to take a few pictures. Have a look below.
Amongst the ships visiting the festival were 'Kathleen and May', 'Iris', 'Artemis' and 'De Gallant', in addition to the Royal Navy's HMS Blyth and the Irish Navy's Niamh .

A large number of local boating enthusiasts, from as far away as Carnlough and West Donegal got involved.
The weekend's fine weather and a number of supporting attractions including street theatre and a french market attracted a large crowd to the event.
The event, Ireland's first ever maritime festival featured traditional and classic craft of all shapes and sizes, from small rowing boats to the world renowned Tall Ships.
