Name/aka: Malachy Kelly aka Wee Mal from Derry.

Hometown:Derry

Home region: Born in Derry and surf Inishowen and Fanad but been in Aberdeen surfing the Scottish coast for the past 4 years at uni.

How long you surfing? Been surfing for about 4 years

3 sentences that describe you/what you do:
Until middle of August I will continue to call myself a student. Can't believe it's all coming to an end. Start work at Lisney surveyors in Belfast middle of August. Don't worry it's a fact that the best waves always come at the weekend! Yeah right!

Where and why did you start surfing?
Was a lifeguard in Inishowen for 3 consecutive summers and got the bug after watching some surfers. Didn't even try it before my girlfriend Sinead and me went to the old Marine sports and bought two Bics and two wetsuits. Never regretted it for one second!

Your fave board: quiver me timbers?
At the minute I've only got one board and it's easily been the best one I've ever had. It's my 6'1 Al Merrick Flyer! Plans to get a barrel hunter soon! Not that I'll be surfing it, ha ha, it'll look good on my wall!

Favourite Surfer/s and why:
Sharing pints with Luke Munro and Jay Quinn has to be my personal claim to fame. Met them in Thurso at the Highland open, totally down to earth and fired me so much freebies it would be rude not to say they were my favourites. Seen Ben Bougois grab a 6 second barrel too right in front of me and thats the best surfing I've ever witnessed. Jordy Smith rocks! When I get some cash i'm beting on him landing plenty titles! He blew the crowd away at that comp!

Best thing about surfing:
Filling my old clio with my mates and hitting a freezing cold spot on the North Scotland coast has to be the best memories of surfing that I have. Cheering on your mates and then lying in a pub watching video footage or looking at photos is single handedly the reason that I've stuck at it!

Any ambition as a surfer?
To get a picture of me in some tube anywhere, any size, any time, any how! So when I'm not able to do it anymore I can look back and get the same stoke that I had the day I scored it!
