During Paddy Doherty in conversation with Mark Pattersonthe 1970s IRA bombs destroyed many buildings - some of which were centuries old - within the historic heart of Derry. There was little inward investment, and in 1981 Paddy Doherty helped to set up The Inner City Trust to transform the city.

The group restored and built properties from scratch such as the Craft Village, The O’Doherty Fort, Jefferson Court, The Calgach Centre, The Tower Hotel and 3-5 London Street.
