CITY TRANSFORMATION Many of Derry's buildings, destroyed during the years of the Troubles, were restored by Paddy Doherty and the Inner City Trust during the 1980s. Click on the thumbnails below to see the past and present images of the buildings. Photos courtesy of Paddyann Doherty During the 1970s IRA bombs destroyed many buildings - some of which were centuries old - within the historic heart of Derry. There was little inward investment, and in 1981 Paddy Doherty helped to set up The Inner City Trust to transform the city. The group restored and built properties from scratch such as the Craft Village, The O’Doherty Fort, Jefferson Court, The Calgach Centre, The Tower Hotel and 3-5 London Street.
