MARATHON MAN Derry man, Gerry McDaid, has been through some tough times. He was a talented young boxer, when he lost an eye in a freak accident when he was cementing a step. He got seriously depressed, and became an alcoholic. The turning point came with a chance remark from one of Gerry's sons. He has now run 100 marathons. He spoke about his experiences with Mark Patterson.
