CLAUDY RELATIVES REQUEST MEETING WITH MARTIN MCGUINNESS

The brother of a young girl who was killed in the Claudy bomb is calling for a meeting with the Deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness, to find out what he knows about it.

Mark Eakin, whose sister Kathryn, was killed in the bombing, was speaking after Mr McGuinness confirmed he did meet the priest suspected of involvement in the Claudy bombing, Father James Chesney. Nine people died in the village in the bombings in 1972. A Police Ombudsman's report into what happened revealed that detectives believed Father Chesney was the IRA's "director of operations" in south County Derry. Mark Eakin told Enda McClafferty, on the Morning programme, he found it hard to believe that Mr McGuinness knew nothing about the bombings.
