MUTE MEADOW

The Derry Regeneration Company, Ilex, has unveiled its £800,000 artistic vision for the Ebrington site - the "Mute Meadow".

'Mute Meadow' is to be constructed at Ebrington but will be visible from both sides of the river Foyle. It takes the form of "an undulating landscape of reflective surfaces, creating columns of light that refract and fragment the surroundings to create a forest of light which will spill onto the river itself."

"VAST FIELD OF LIGHT"

More than 60 artists from across the world entered the competition which was run by the Regeneration Company Ilex. Mark Patterson spoke to the successful artists, Vong Phaophanit and Claire Oboussier, as well as Declan McGonagle of the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, and Mo Durkan of Ilex.
