DANGEROUS DRIVING

The mother of a Derry teenager killed in a car crash says she tried to forgive the young driver within hours of the accident. Marcelline Doherty embraced the 19-year-old in court after he admitted causing her son Conor's death by dangerous driving. Kevin Derges from Cashelmore Park lost control of the car on the Coshquin Road in May 2007. He ran away from the scene, even though Conor Doherty had suffered such serious injuries and died shortly afterwards. His parents, Marcelline and John, told our reporter Teresa Craig about the moments after they arrived at the scene.
