A gang of up to 40 people forcibly removed gates that were erected to help curb anti-social behaviour in the Fahan Street area of the Bogside. The action followed a protest organised by the Irish Republican Unity Forum against the measure, which was taken by the Northern Ireland Office in response to problems in the area.
