FLANN O'BRIEN

Cover of Flann O'Brien BookRugadh an t-údar agus iriseoir Briain Ó Nualláin sa tSrath Bán i gContae Thír Eoghain in 1911. Ar na hainmneacha cleite a thug sé air féín mar scríbhneoir tá Flann O’Brien agus Myles na gCopaleen, agus mar a léirigh sé sna leabhair ‘At-Swim-Two-Birds’, ‘The Third Policeman’ agus ‘An Béal Bocht,’ bhí sé de chumas aige scríobh trí mheán na Gaeilge agus Béarla leis an líofacht agus an ghreann ceannann chéanna. Daichead bliain i ndiaidh don Nuallánach bás a fháil, labhraíonn an file Louis de Paor faoi saol agus saothar s'aige.

The author and journalist Brian O'Nolan was born in Strabane, Co. Tyrone in 1911. Under pen names like Flann O'Brien and Myles na gCopaleen, he went on to produce books of the calibre of 'At-Swim-Two-Birds,' 'The Third Policeman' and 'An Béal Bocht,' demonstrating a talent that was equally at home in both Irish and English. Forty years after his death, the poet Louis de Paor pays tribute to Flann O'Brien.
