The Story
In 1972 Jean Orr was working as a Health Visitor and Family Planning nurse in an East Belfast Family Planning Clinic. One day an encounter with a worn out and desperate mother-to-be brought home to the medical team that, no matter what advice they could offer, this woman's plight had no easy solution. The experience shaped Jean's political outlook from that day on.
