Mabel Beattie

Mabel remembers August 1953.

Mabel Beattie

"The sun was shining this particular day and we were given permission to go to the lough and play in the shallow end."

The Story

It was August 1953, Mabel Beattie was six years old when her mother died and both she and her sister were with a foster mother. This is a story about a simple but telling gesture and what it represented in a child's mind.
