Days Like this

Fionnuala Casey

had a special day on 24th November 1997.

Fionnuala Casey

"The elation I felt that day was great. I had finally been accepted in the class. It had taken so long for this to happen."

The Story

She noticed that people from other groups in the classroom were staring at her. She became self conscious. Even the teacher began to notice it. Then she saw a piece of paper being passed around the class. She assumed it was a nasty note about her.

The story continues...

Fiona says:
"Although third year at school was many moons ago, I'm still treading the same halls and sitting in the same classrooms - although this time I'm the teacher and I'm the one who stops notes from being passed around! I still know most of the people who wrote the note all those years ago, but the one who has become most important to me is Anthony. When I showed him the note a few years ago, he couldn't identify even one of the signatures as his own! Anthony and I lost contact after fifth year but three years ago we met on the steps of the town cinema and have been rather inseparable ever since. The note will always be special for me, especially now the scribbled messages about Anthony and I have become reality."

Fionualla still has the note from her birthday in '97. You can see it right here in her photo gallery...
