The Story
Because his father was the local police sergeant, Bryan felt a bit of an outsider at school. Often his father was investigating the activities of his contemporaries' parents! One day all of that changed and he became 'one of the boys'.

Bryan was a regular contributor to Radio 4's Home Truths series. Throughout the series Bryan would pop up with humorous anecdotes about his childhood. This collection of stories would be the precursor to Bryan's book Barefoot in Mullyweeny.

Comment: Bryan:"Those were the days my friend,we thought they'd never end".Both clerics and teachers had authority then.
Many clergy are afraid to talk to children for their own good reasons.Have we entered a better world???

Comment: I missed your broadcast on 5 April but have just "listened again" and it is so good to hear your voice again. I have your lovely book but nothing beats hearing the author himself telling the stories. I used to listen to "Home Truths" and like so many others miss the great programme and the even greater John Peel. Your contribution to this programme was always well worth listening to.
