Irene Lockett

Irene's special memory comes from May 1932

Irene Lockett

"My tears were all dried up and there was a smile on my face... I was really happy. The abiding memory is the kindness of that old woman."

The Story

Irene gathered bluebells to take to her schoolteacher. Her mother wouldn't let her take them because they were dying. 'You're not going to insult your teacher by taking her dead flowers...' But a kindly act that day turned Irene's sadness into happiness.
