Ernie Cooke
"The thing that stuck in my mind was the sound. The sound of the plane stripping the timber..."
The Story
Growing up without a father was tough for Ernie and his family. At the age of seven Ernie was the man of the house but he recalls watching in amazement as the joiners fitted the new windows to his home. He remembers every smell and every noise they made as they worked their magic on the wood.
