Wanda Wojciechowicz
"Eventually we arrived. We walked for 100 yards and there, under a beautiful tree, was the grave of my grandparents"
The Story
Wanda made the journey with her father to his home town, an area badly affected by the Chernobyl disaster. After making their way to the local market they bought flowers and Wanda knew this was no ordinary trip. They went to the cemetery and to the grave of her grandparents. There they felt their emotions overpower them as they paid their respects to the ones they had lost.

Comment: We all have roots. Though separated by years and distance, communicating again in such a way as Wanda and her Father had done is a powerfully emotional and yet satisfying thing to have done.
