Margaret Morrow

Margaret still remembers some words of wisdom from July 1935

Margaret Morrow

"I look back on that day as the most important day of my childhood"

The Story

As a young child, Margaret made the same bus journey every week to her Sunday school lesson in Townsend St. Presbyterian Church. She soon made friends with one Mr Brolly, a man who travelled on the same bus on his journey to Mass. She liked Mr Brolly because sometimes he would pay her bus fare, thus allowing her to spend her one penny on sweets. One day Mr Brolly gave Margaret a profound piece of advice which she has remembered all her life.

Comment: A poignant story, well-delivered. It brought home very clearly how a few wise words in the right ears can have a profound, permanent impact on how someone views and conducts their life; but more than that, with each telling of the story the message spreads like ripples in a pond and will travel down through the generations. Excellent!

Comment: The man this woman met may have been my grandfather, james brolly-- it was right before he left to go to America. It is a wonderful story that I would like to get more information about where this was.
If this is true--it would be a great treasure tp pass on to my children. You see my grandfather died the night my parents were to be married and I never met him or my grandmother (Margaret Trainor). I would love to pass this on to my family-- what a treasure this would be.
You would be giving us something that money can't buy.
