Glasgowbury 2008
ASH
DESCRIBE IN THREE WORDS: We Are Family

CROWD REACTION: With all other stages finished up for the night, everyone has gathered for the main event, and for the most part, they're not disappointed. There's a lot of singing along to the likes of Girl From Mars, Oh Yeah, and Shining Light, and the crowd goes predictably mental to Kung Fu. Despite the awkward slant of the field, most manage to bounce their way through the upbeat songs without doing themselves an injury. The vibe does suffer during a couple of the more recent releases though, and we have to wonder if a festival was the right environment to try out a brand new song.

REMARKABLE MOMENT: How good 'Rick's dad's favourite song' Twilight of the Innocents sounds as the set closer. And it's always good to go nuts to Jack Names The Planets, especially when it's rounding off another small but massive day in the Sperrins.

GLASGOWBURY RATING OUT OF TEN: 7.5
