Describe In Three Words: Sweet Spaceman Psychedelia.
Remarkable Moment: On paper, it’s a pretty exciting concept. The incredible music of Jason Pierce performed with a sting quartet and mini gospel choir. And yes, at times it’s beautiful and almost upsetting, proper goose-pimple stuff. But a tent at a festival isn’t really the best place for this – the strings aren’t getting through, there’s too much audience chat (there’s a bar in the tent, for a start) and… well, it’s not loud enough.
Still though, you could hear ‘Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space’ (with a blast of Elvis at the end, as in the original version), ‘I Think I’m In Love’ and ‘Stop Your Crying’ performed in an underwater bucket and it would still be a bit special.
Crowd Reaction: There are clearly die-hard fans here, maybe a little frustrated at the un-intimate setting for such a show. Those who are passing by are clearly a little taken aback by the extreme levels of bliss and seem to stick around for longer than planned.
