Electric Picnic 2007
Jamie Liddell

Describe In Three Words: Little bit more.

Remarkable Moment: What's pretty remarkable is that this complete maverick (or "complaverick" as he will now be known) is making this joyous racket all on his own. His stage is cluttered with samplers, keyboards, pads and peddles. And a microphone, which he'll beatbox, holler and sing into. The big screens suggest unplanned lunacy, as Liddell hammers buttons and loops his home made beats and bass. Yet he seems in complete control.

It sometimes sounds like a DJ set, but this is arguably the most "live" performance we've seen all weekend - one man's warped brain transmitting direct, through a set of massive speakers - the ultimate DIY.

He breaks it up with karaoke versions of actual songs, which couldn't be anymore different than what's desribed above. A new track is a bit motown, while 'Multiply' is amongst the most soulful things we'll hear all weekend. Few people have the voice and presence to pull this off.

Oh, and even though he's wearing a bin bag (seriously) he's the coolest guy onsite at the moment, official.

Crowd Reaction: It's a weird one - this is the Bodytonic tent, were people arrive for relentlss house and techno and leave missing part of their brain. Hence such a unique set is a bit hit confising for the dance-heads. He's giving everything, but Jamie Liddell knows this may not be the time or the place.

EP Rating: In another setting, 9, but today a solid 8.
