Describe In Three Words: Small, then massive.
Remarkable Moment: Candi Payne is the most underrated act on this bill, we reckon anyway. Live, her sun-kissed debut album is darker and smokier, as the Crawdaddy Stage turns into a lounge bar of sorts for the duration. Twangy guitars, dinky piano and shuffling drums are the order of the day, and armed with and incredible voice and bundles of soul, Candi is incredibly engaging from the outset. ‘I Wish I Could Have Loved You More’ is an early highlight, while forthcoming, Mark Ronson produced single ‘One More Chance’ hammers home what we already knew – in a perfect world she’d be much further up the bill. Bonus points for starting the last song despite menacing gestures from an irked stage manager as things started to over-run.
Crowd Reaction: As her band take to the stage, there are literally 24 people in the tent, staff included. We know because we counted. Half way through her set, the arena is pretty much full and no one has any intention of leaving. Go Figure!
