Saints sign Downey

Northampton Saints have announced the signing of James Downey to their first team squad for the coming season.

The 26-year-old Irish centre arrives at Franklin's Gardens from Italian outfit Calvisano.

He has also played for Irish provinces Munster, Connacht and Leinster as well as for Ireland Sevens.

Downey has signed a one-year contract with the club and will be a great asset to the team at 6ft 4in tall and weighing 16 stone.
