Remember Us

By Thea Killeya, 12, from Northampton.

Remember us
The warriors of old
Of our lives you've barely told
We used to breathe the air like you
But no our breathing days are through
We lie here, underground
We cannot see or hear a sound
But we saved you, so please remember
It’s just two minutes in November
For us we ask just a moment of thought
But for you we gave our lives
Remember us the warriors of old
Of our lives you've barely told
Now a poppy in our place
For you can never see our face
We were brave, but brave no more
You do not know the pain of war
For us we ask just a moment of thought
But for you we gave our lives
Remember us
The warriors of old
Of our lives you've barely told.
