The Graveyard

By Ella Drake, 12, from West Haddon.

All is silent and still,
A full moon shines,
Coating the grass in a thin silver blanket,
The leaves shimmer in the silvery light,
A delicate picture of beauty,
But all is not as it seems...
Gravestones stand bold in the moonlight,
Casting eerie shadows,
Marking the peaceful bodies of the dead,
The gnarled trees stand out bold in the half-light,
Like tortured souls reaching out for freedom,
This is a place you can never escape,
When your lying in the ground.
