Holidays

By Lynn Foster from Market Harborough (works in Northamptonshire).

The airplane door is finally pushed to
I'm instantly feeling a little less blue

I love the chance to clear my mind
With seven days' holiday to unwind

Let my thoughts do their own thing
Sing right out if they want to sing

Nothing too heavy, nothing too deep
I can savour the memories I love to keep

I can dream of my father and also my mother
And just how much I miss my brother

Of childhood times, being much less aware
Having great fun without a care

But clothes loosely flowing, and hair that's free
Lighten the sadness surrounding me

Life's in perspective, I'm nothing but glad
For all the lovely times I've had

And clarity of mind needn't fade with my tan
With the intention to enjoy life as much as I can

Such sorrow will never lead me astray
Each morning is a brand new day
