Waking Up Perfect

She makes an elegant stumble.
I watch her eyes being made.
Putting my favourite knickers on
She dances slow as I shave.

I wrestle down stairs to the kettle.
She causes small diamonds to spill.
In my hastiness I couldn't care less -
But for her, I always will.

We started as friends one August.
Me on her settee - dreaming
Of sleeping together and
Days like these, waking up perfect.
