Geoff Doyle

BBC Radio Northampton Sport

Geoff Doyle leads the BBC Radio Northampton Sports team; bringing you the latest on your local team.

Geoff was born and raised in High Wycombe attending John Hampden Grammar School where he was the first team football captain.

He left the town aged 19 to study at Oxford Brookes University, where again he was the first team football captain. Geoff also played other sports at school and university and wrote for the school and university magazine.

It was at uni where Geoff became involved in radio - covering sport on the student station. After university in 1996 he joined BBC Radio Oxford as a volunteer on the social action desk. Geoff also started to work on the sports programmes and at the time was Assistant Editor of the John Lewis magazine in High Wycombe.

In 2000 he joined BBC Three Counties Radio as a Sport Broadcast Journalist and after four years joined BBC Radio Northampton as Sports Editor.

Geoff's hobbies include watching and playing sport (how did you guess!?!) including surfing and snowboarding, which he hasn't been able to do for a couple of years due to the birth of his first child, Freddie.

A freezing cold bottle of Stella Artois with his family and friends around him is Geoff's idea of happiness.
