Graphic: Make a valentine heart for someone special
Picture: Valentine hearts
Make these lovely valentine hearts
Is there someone special you like? Make one of these embroidered valentine hearts and show them just how romantic you are.

If there is someone you fancy and you want to them to know? Make one of these valentine hearts and give it to them as a surprise to show them just how much you care.

These embroidered hearts are really easy to make and can be given to friends and family as well as that special person.

What you need:
A piece of cotton material
A length of ribbon
Embroidery threads (any colour)
Soft toy stuffing or cotton wool
Sequins
Glue (fabric glue)
Marker pen
Cotton thread and needle
Pins

Picture: What you need
Picture: Draw a heart shape on your material

Step 1
Cut yourself a piece of material so that when it's folded in half, it measures 15cm by 15cm.

Step 2
In the centre of your material, draw a heart shape. Make it as big as you can. Next, cut around the shape and you should now have two identical heart shapes.

Step 3
Next, cut a piece of ribbon to about 20cm long. Fold it in half. Place one heart in front of you and and place the folded ribbon in the centre of the heart.
Step 4
Make sure the folded end of the ribbon is facing towards you and about 1½cm from the bottom of the heart. Place the second heart on top of the other one like a sandwich.

Step 5
Carefully pin the bits together and now sew around the edge of the heart, starting at the bottom point of the heart. Finish about 3cm before reaching the place where you started - to leave a hole.
Step 5
The hole will give you space to stuff the heart. Now turn your heart inside out and make sure that the seam is flattened. Stuff your heart until it is full. When you have enough stuffing, sew up the hole. Make sure the heart material is turned inwards!

Step 6
With a thin marker pen, write your message on the heart. We have chosen 'Be my Valentine'. Use a running stitch with the embroidering threads and follow along the pen marks. You can always sew sequins or buttons on the heart too!
