A mini Cannes-style film festival was held in Norwich to celebrate the film-making talents of children from four Norfolk schools. Pupils from Class 4 at St Peter's CEVE Primary School in Easton, write about their experience of making a short film. A Viking from the animated film |
Our school got involved in making a film through Creative Partnerships and Cinema City. We made an animation film based on a Viking saga, called The Weather Stone, that we created in our literacy lessons. We got help fromMr Brook, an IT specialist who helped us film and edit the animation on the computer. Making the film First we got in to groups and drew our story board for each scene. Then we designed characters and drew them on card and we painted some backgrounds to go with each scene. Next we stuck our figures on to the background and moved them slightly, filming each small movement one at a time. When we edited this all together, it looked like the characters were moving. When we had finished all eight scenes we downloaded music off the internet and composed some of our own, and added it on to our film. To finish it off, Mr Brook selected some people to do the voices of the characters. We enjoyed making the backgrounds and doing the music best. And the Oscar goes to... There were four schools at the award ceremony, where all the films were screened. The award ceremony was very good and the awards looked like a golden man just like the Oscars. At the end we got a clapperboard for each school. When we won the award we felt really happy and felt like we were famous. After making the film some of us decided that we might like to work in films as directors or actors. |
