Why not put your creative skills to the test this year and learn how to make some fantastic puppets at the Norwich Puppet Theatre? The Puppet Theatre in Norwich is one of only two in the whole country so you can be one of the few people to learn from the real puppet masters! Thumbelina is a simple wooden puppet |
The workshops, which run until Saturday 5 June are suitable for children as young as five. There are lots of fun activities to choose from including making a marionette puppet - a string puppet, rod puppets and clay modelling. During the first part of the workshop you will be able to work together under instruction to create the basic structure of your puppet. Then you will be given a chance to be creative by giving your puppets character, costume and decoration. There will be lots of different types of material to use for your imaginative skills. You'll be able to explore fabric and paper cutting, string threading, bead making, knot tying, cutting and sticking - with guidance always on hand if needed. A puppet from The Giant Book |
Each session has a maximum of 20 children and lasts one and a half hours. All the workshops are suitable for children aged 5 years and over and are led by professionals with voluntary assistants. All materials are provided by the Theatre and you will leave the workshop with a puppet or mask or model of your own creation to take home with you.
