The University of East Anglia, nestled on the outskirts of Norwich city centre, is set in 320 acres of parkland.
The campus features award winning architecture by Sir Denys Lasdun, Lord (Norman) Foster and Rick Mather. It is also home to the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, housing the extensive Sainsbury Collection, combining modern Western works with fine and applied arts from across the globe. The pyramid-shaped concrete terraces featured in this panorama could be given listed status. The student halls of residence, a library and teaching block are considered some of the most "powerful and dramatic" buildings to be found at universities built in the second half of the 20th Century, said heritage minister Andrew McIntosh. Former UEA students include Booker Prize winning authors Ian McEwan and Kazuo Ishiguro, comedy writers and performers Charlie Higson, Arthur Smith and Paul Whitehouse, explorer Benedict Allen, actor Jack Davenport and BBC Radio's Jenny Abramsky.
