At 6am on Saturday 28 June, 2003 BBC Radio Norfolk presented its first show from the BBC's new multi-million pound broadcast centre in the heart of Norwich. BBC Radio Norfolk's station editor David Clayton is understandably excited about the station's move to The Forum. "It's rather like getting rid of your old Morris Traveller and taking the keys of a state-of-the-art Aston Martin," he said. For the first time, Radio Norfolk, Look East and the BBC's Where I Live and News Online teams in Norfolk come together under one roof. "We had to move for a number of reasons and for a while the BBC had been looking for somewhere to build a headquarters for all of our local services," explained Mr Clayton. The project has been ongoing for the last couple of years and has included the development of a bespoke broadcast system for the television side of the BBC's operation in the county. The staff at BBC Look East will move from their Georgian building base in All Saint's Green in Autumn. Don't miss the 360° view of Radio Norfolk operations centre. |
