The Restless Spirits

The Restless Spirits have recently changed their name from The Scapegoats. The trio, who play a mix of original material and covers, have supported The Damned and The Buzzcocks at The Waterfront in Norwich.

Gig date

31 October 2005: Halloween Special with The Restless Spirits, Fletch Cadillac, Forever Falling and The Ruined at the Ferry Boat Inn, King St, Norwich. Free admission before 8.30pm and £2 afterwards. Fancy dress advised.

The Restless Spirits are a three-piece band. Dale, from North Walsham, is on vocals and guitar and used to play with local bands Wildflames and Hotwired, new recruit Keith is on drums and Pigsie, from Cromer, pile drives a bass rhythm guitar.

New drummer

Keith is the latest addition to the band

Recent addition Keith is from Westwick, near North Walsham, and used to play in local rock group The Casemakers back in the early 1990s.

Keith was keen to start playing again and he's given The Restless Spirits a new impetus. The band are writing new material and rehearsing for gigs.

Name change

The band recently changed their names to The Restless Spirits from The Scapegoats. They worked under their former title for two years until they realised there were several scapegoats in the world, most notably Terry Edwards And The Scapegoats from Norwich !

They started as an alternative to the many bands playing the same rock covers.

Their original music contains traces of punk, rockabilly, Goth and blues. They also play covers by Motorhead, The Cramps, The Ramones, Link Wray and anything that's rock 'n' roll!

Their first year was spent without a drummer. They relied on a drum machine for rehearsals and whoever was available for gigs including Hotwired's Nick and Thugsy from The Scam, who is pictured above.

The Damned

The Restless Spirits most notable gigs so far have their first gig at Rawkus 3, together with supporting The Damned and warming up for The Buzzcocks.

Most of their performances are at events such as punk all-dayers, biker gigs and rockabilly events.

Dale says: "Playing like we do makes it dificult to get pub gigs. People want to hear the mainstream stuff they hear at work on the radio, but we cut our own path."

They have one CD out on their Quick, Cheap 'n' Easy label that contains an equal mix of covers and originals. A second CD of original material is about to be committed to CD soon.
