Why laughing helps you feel good

  • Published
    14 September 2011

Have you ever heard the saying 'laughter is the best medicine'? Now scientists say it could actually be true.

Experts at Oxford University have found laughing can help us feel better if we're in pain.

That's because when we laugh our bodies release chemicals called endorphins which make us feel good.

These chemicals then act as a natural painkiller.

But scientists say we won't get the benefits from just a giggle, it has to be a proper belly laugh!
